i used board search but didnt find any topic to this.
So is this thing of any use?
I didnt heard so, but if not a lvl requirement wouldn?t make any sense.
So you can tell me what it does? |

The Standard of Heroes (SoH) is apparently nothing but a (useless) reward for defeating the Three, in their ?ber forms.
Lots of tests, one more silly than the next, have been performed, leaving just as many rumours in their wake. Most well-known to the public is the (less silly) claim that the SoH prevents you from death xp penalty, either in part or completely, in nm and hell difficulties. As far as I can tell from testing, it simply isn't true.
As for the lvl req (90) on the SoH, it is indeed odd, but presumably it was originally an estimate of the lvl you would need to successfully defeat the ?bers - setting a standard of lvl 90, so to speak.
If anyone can verify the SoH does have some property besides wasting a square of inventory space, then let us know. At this stage, I seriously doubt so ...

Which is, I suppose, based on numerous hours of trial and error before the (smiter) build turned out to work. I said 'originally'

It in fact is a very special item, you can drop it on the floor and it won't break. Other then that it's useless. _________________

| Well considering all those Shamans carry it all the time I bet it has to have some special purpose. Have you ever tried reviving Fallens with it? |

You have to drop it on the body of the wanderer after you killed him and never before you chased a chicken out of town in act 1. _________________

SoH = makes you ask stupid questions and waists time, it's unlikely to have a perpose till next the next patch |

If the SoH was ever meant to have some purpose, it's quite unlikely Blizzard would not activate it in the same patch (1.11) when it was first introduced. It's rather senseless to have an item that does nothing until a new patch is launched - which would be more than 2 years later, in this case.
I doubt Blizzard will supply more d2 patches unless someone provides them with an unusually good reason to do so. At this stage, the SoH doesn't appear to be one such - particularly not if it was indeed always meant to be nothing but a sole trophy.
Noting the previous ladder season lasted for roughly 2 years, this should leave Blizzard with plenty of time to work on and thus launch a new patch. But apparently, they just reset the ladder.

Hahahahaha
I know what to do with those SoH's!!! Thats why i buy and collect as many as i can get!!! When the new patch releases im rich and godly!!!
Hahahahaha
But for real... There are some peops who collect them... Since blizz likes to surprise their fans from time to time (nearly no one ever believed that there will be a ladder reset again before the last one....) ... Maybe their days will come
Theres one important thing i learned during my d2 carreer.... Collect every special / perfect item you find! Because even if its crap atm, a time will come where someone really needs it!
Imagine theres another patch tomorrow and the SoH gets usefull... To find another unique charm or activate a special quest or smth likt that....
Just some hours after patch release you can sell full SoH accs for shitloads of other forums tradeables or hrs
Im still 2 lazy to collect them... -.- (and when they ever get usefull there will be someone who dupes them ) _________________

Could be. Otherwise, they've got an almost infinite number of reasons for not wasting their time again. In other words, they'll win either way.

| Me and my m8 made key runs to get keys... I kept about 8 SOHs on my inventory and my m8 havent SOHs on his inventory... We made about 50 runs each and I found more than he and faster... We have do this couple of times and I got always way more than he... Maybe this could be SOHs thing? |

hmm mutu sounds interestings.
I cant believe really that this is the use, one should try this often and in many many runs.
If you see a real difference that should be the use of the SoH |

I'm going to test this right now.
I have 3 Rows of SoH's (12), and am going to do 10 runs WITH them, and then 10 runs WITHOUT them! And prove this once and for all =D
I am only going to do : Summoner + Nihlithak
With 12 SoH's
Run 1
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing
Run 2
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing
Run 3
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing
Run 4
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing
Run 5
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing
Run 6
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing Except a Magic Royal Shield (35000 Gold)
Run 7
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing
Run 8
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing
Run 9
Summoner - Key of Hate!
Nihlithak - Fire Immune
Run 10
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Fire Immune AGAIN
10 Runs With SoH's:
1 Key of Hate
0 Keys of Destruction
Without 12 SoH's
Run 1
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing
Run 2
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Fire Immune
Run 3
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing
Run 4
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing
Run 5
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing
Run 6
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing
Run 7
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing
Run 8
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Fire Immune
Run 9
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing
Run 10
Summoner - Nothing
Nihlithak - Nothing
10 Runs Without SoH's:
0 Key of Hate
0 Keys of Destruction
Well I think its unanimous, I really don't think SoH's have ANY affect on Key Finding. |

| Well 10 runs is hardly enough to give you decent statistical data. You would have to make like 1000 runs with and without. And I think it would be a wasted time anyway (unless you really need those keys). SoHs were tested for nearly everything and I bet that "increasing key drop chance" was one of them. |

Well.. was tested now:P It's more of..a ''pride'' to have one.. (tho most players don't give a s*it about them) So nn testing anymore.. doesn't do a damn thing..^^ just waste of inv space and time..

Besides, there's no point in stocking more than at most one SoH on a char. It makes no sense to suppose more SoHs will have a different impact from a single one.
But Danny is absolutely right. The droprate for keys is simply too low for 10-20 runs to be considered sufficient statistical evidence.

| I think you can use them later. As Epzsi said in the begining, that the wirts leg coudnt be used before the patch. |

vouch, but therefore ppl will have to ask blizzard about giving the SoH a use and i donīt think anyone proposed anything useful, neither i expect blizzard to do a "new" cow lvl just for the SoH :/
but what can we do but hope? =) _________________
